Camp Sold for Development

It is with great sadness that we confirm on Friday, February 14, 2014 the Presbytery of Chicago closed on the sale of the camp property to a developer. It is extremely unfortunate that the Presbytery did not consider the Oval Beach Preservation Society’s offer which would have paid off the debt, as well as save the camp and the property.   Their choice is heartbreaking, unjust, and devastating for all those who love the camping ministry and the environment.

Lakeshore, of course, will honor its promise to return all funds donated for the purchase. We will advise you of the schedule in the next few weeks.

We are most grateful to all those who have supported Lakeshore during the past six years in our efforts to save the camping ministry at Saugatuck and to save the beautiful lakeshore.  Your prayers, encouragement and financial support were greatly appreciated.
